Can I use Plottr if I use Scrivener?
Absolutely! Plottr is an elegant visual tool for planning and outlining your books, whereas Scrivener is a professional writing application.
With Plottr, you can even export your files directly as Scrivener files (with your chapter and scene card info) to make it easier than ever to get to writing!
Can I write my story in Plottr?
You can (sort of), but that’s not what it’s built for at this time.
Where are my files saved?
You files are saved locally on your computer – they are NOT saved to the cloud by default.
To save your files to the cloud, you will need to save them to a 3rd party cloud-hosting service like Dropbox, Google Drive, or iCloud.
Please note we are working toward providing native cloud storage.
Can I collaborate on a Plottr file with a co-author or editor?
Yes! You can share your file with anyone who has Plottr by hosting it on a cloud-based file sharing service like Dropbox or Google Drive. Any edits your collaborators make in the shared Plottr file will display on your end when you open the file.
However, we do NOT currently recommend working on the file with a collaborator at the same time to prevent overwriting each other’s changes.
What devices does Plottr work on?
Plottr currently works on Mac & Windows desktops and laptops, along with iOS (iPhone and iPad) and Android tablets and smartphones.
We are also working toward a great experience on Linux and Chromebooks!
Do I need an internet connection to use Plottr?
Nope! Once Plottr is installed on your computer, you can always save and access your files. However, you will need an internet connection to receive updates.
How do I install Plottr?
Why does Plottr keep asking me to activate my license key?
If you’re experiencing this behavior, please make sure to quit your Plottr installer and restart the app. The problem should be solved!
