How to Start a New Plottr Project

Are you ready to start a new Plottr project? In this article, we show you three different ways to do just that.

Overview

There are currently three ways to start a new Plottr project, which is a file you can think of as the container for the series, books, stories, or pieces of writing you intend to group together:

  • Blank: Start your first "book" in the project with an empty canvas
  • Template: Start your first "book" in the project with a plot template
  • Snowflake Pro: Start your first "book" in the project from an existing Snowflake Pro file

Once a project is created, you can add new blank and template-based "books" to it (and delete them). However, you cannot currently import a book from Snowflake Pro into an existing project.

Start a Blank Project

If you want to start your project with a blank book file:

Instructions

  1. Access the Project Dashboard on desktop by opening the Plottr app OR by clicking the user icon on the top right and then "Projects"
  2. Click "Create Blank Project"

If you're on an older version of Plottr (prior to v2021.11.17), see this video here.

Start a Project from a Template

If you want to start your project with one of the 20+ plot templates that come with Plottr:

Instructions

  1. Access the Project Dashboard on desktop by opening the Plottr app OR by clicking the user icon on the top right and then "Projects"
  2. Click "Create From Template"
  3. Select the template you wish to use
  4. Click "Create New Project"

If you're on an older version of Plottr (prior to v2021.11.17), see this video here.

Start a Project from a Snowflake Pro File

If you previously used the Snowflake Pro software, you can import your file into Plottr to begin:

Instructions

  1. Access the Project Dashboard on desktop by opening the Plottr app OR by clicking the user icon on the top right and then "Projects"
  2. Click "Import Snowflake Pro"
  3. Select the Snowflake Pro file from your computer and click "Open"

If you're on an older version of Plottr (prior to v2021.11.17), see this video here.
